Learning to surf together is one of the best memories a family can bring home from Fuerteventura. But as a parent, you probably have a few questions first: Is it safe? Are my kids old enough? Will it be fun for the adults too? Here is how our family surf lessons in Corralejo work.

Is surfing safe for kids?

Safety comes first in every lesson. With families, we always teach in gentle, waist-deep water, where everyone can stand comfortably. Your family gets a dedicated coach who stays close, steadies the boards and helps each child catch waves at their own pace.

How old do kids need to be?

Every child is different, so the most important thing is that they feel comfortable in the water and can swim a short distance (about 15 metres) on their own. When you book, just tell us your kids’ ages and we will let you know if a family lesson is a good fit.

What does a family surf lesson look like?

Each session lasts 3–4 hours in total. We start on the beach with the basics: how to lie on the board, paddle, and pop up to standing. Then we head into the water and practise together, with lots of help and wave-pushes from your coach. There is no pressure and no judgment – just high-fives and a lot of laughing.

Parents surf too! The lesson is designed so adults and kids learn side by side, which is what makes it so special.
